Game Summary

Maumee's role as the Generals nemesis continues as the Panthers earned a thrilling shoot-out victory. After taking a 2 - 0 first period lead on 2 Zach Ulrich goals, the Generals gave up 3 unanswered 2nd period goals to the Panthers. AW's David Barnes then tied the game at 3 - 3 midway through the 3rd period and again tied it at 4on Aaron Podbielniak's goal with 2:52 remaining in Regulation. After a scoreless 4 on 4 NHL style overtime it took 13 players from each team to decide the shoot out winner. Finally Maumees Freshman standout Matt Young beat AW's Trent DeLong the win. Maumee's Austin Tubbs and DeLong stopped a combined 23 out of 26 penalty shot style shoot out attempts. It was an exciting ending and earned the Panthers 2nd place in the tourney.
