Matt White had 3 goals and 2 assists as Perrysburg revenged their loss to the Generals on New Years Eve with a 6 to 4 NHC White Division win. The Yellow Jackets scored on 4 of 6 power play opportunities after the Generals had taken a 1 to 0 lead early in the first period. Dustin Kain had 2 goals and an assist, Ben Lopez had a goal and an assist while Toni Kayser had 2 assists for Perrysburg. Zach Ulrich, Kevin Hoyle, Matt Trautlein and Chris Watkins scored for AW. The Generals were unable to stop Perrysburg's power plays with all 4 goals scored in the first 20 seconds of the 1 man advantage. With the score tied at 3, the General's players thought they had scored the lead goal late in the second period, but it was waived off as play continued.
The Yellow Jackets led 3 to 1 after 1 period, but unassisted long range goals by Hoyle and Trautlein tied it up with 4:05 remaining in the 2nd period. Perrysburg then took advantage of penalty by AW's Jake Bogdan and in just 10 seconds into the power play White scored a rally breaking goal on assists from Ben Lopez and Dustin Kain with 2:49 remaining in the 2nd. The Yellow Jackets Freshman Goalie Cameron Studer saved 24 of the 28 shots against him and earned the victory. Perrysburg now has 6 White Division wins with no losses to lead the NHC White standings. |
