It was like getting a giant weight of the team's back and the Generals did something they have never done - by BEATING PERRYSBURG. In a game played before a good-sized New Year's Eve crowd at BGSU, AW scored 5 straight 2nd period goals to beat their White Division rivals 9 to 7. In the first minute of the game AW's Kevin Hoyle and the Yellow Jackets Matt White both scored goals and the shoot at BGSU was just getting started. By the end of Period 1 , it was tied at 3. Just 2:31 White scored again to give Perrysburg their last lead of the game. Just 2:04 later Robin Aubry's blast from the Blue Line zipped past the Yellow Jackets Goalie Cameron Studer to tie the game. AW's Zach Ulrich, Hoyle, Aaron Podbielniak and Ulrich again put the Generals up 8 to 4. But Perrysburg wasn't done, because just 23 seconds into the 3rd period Dustin Kain scored one of his 3 goals followed with goals by Alex Dunphy and White to bring the game within a goal. With 3:03 remaining Podbielniak gave AW a 9 to 7 lead and the scoring was finally done. Although Perrysburg made a comeback, AW was able to maintain its composure, and Podbielniak' goal seemed to abruptly change the direction of the game while the Yellow Jackets lost some composure and were unable to reassert any control of the game. The victory, however was not in a league game - the Generals get an opportunity to win one that counts January 9th.
