Anthony Win Routs Lake 12 to 1 in 2 Periods

The Generals beat the Lake 12 to 1 in a game that ended in 2 periods at BGSU. The AW Senior players and their parents were honored in ceremonies before the game.

After falling behind 2 to 0 in the game's first 6 minutes, The Generals stormed from behind to beat Fremont Ross 7 to 3. The win paves the way to a 4th Consecutive NHC Blue Division Championship. If AW wins its last two league games, they will tie the Little Giants for the second conscutive year as Co-Champions of the Blue Division. Once again Zak Seipel and Zach Ulrich paced the Generals. Seipel had 1 goal and 5 assists while Ulrich recorded a three goal hat trick along with one assist. In all eight different AW players had a goal or an assist. The Generals out shot Ross 44 to 17 in a dominating performance.
Generals beat Springfield 14 to 0 to Set All Time School Season Record with 18 Wins

AW beat a severely undermanned Springfield team 14 to 0 in two periods for their 6th NHC Blue Division win of the season. Eleven different players had at least one goal and 13 players scored at least one point in the game. Chloe Spencer recorded a shut-out and remains unscored upon in Varsity league play.
The victory marked the 18th win of the season to break the school record of 17 wins set by the 2005-06 team. Dan Koralewski, Zak Seipel, Zach Tansel and Charlie Witte were all members of both teams.
Chloe Spencer completed her second shut-out of the season in the Generals 14-0 victory over the Springfield Blue Devils. Spencer now has a combined 16 victories for the AW Varsity and Junior Varsity teams.
Zach Ulrich Wins BCSN's Weekend Warrior Voting
Sophomore Forward Zach Ulrich became the thrid AW player to be voted as the Ice Check Television Show's Weekend Warrior. He the previous winners Center Zak Seipel and Goal Tender Dan Koralewski. The BCSN Web Site reports that Zach gathered 61% of the votes cast. The formal announcement will be made on the Ice Check show to be broadcast Sunday at 8:00 on BCSN.

Zach Seipel's 4 goals led the Generals to an easy 7 to 1 victory over Dublin Scioto. It was AW's School Record Tieing 17th win of the season. Game Report available 2-08-09. GAME REPORT

Although the JV's lost in a hard fought loss 5 to 3 to Northview, the team ended the season with a JV School Record 15 wins.
JV's Come From Behind to Beat Findlay

The Generals JV's beat Findlay 5 to 3 at the Cube in Findlay. After falling behind, AW stormed back to take the lead 4 to 3 late in the Third Period. Nick Zielinski's open net goal from Matt Trautlein sealed the victory. Zach Ulrich's 3 goals and Trevor Pieh's 4 assists led the scoring. Chloe Spencer shut the door on the Trojans in the 3rd period and recorded 17 saves in the victory.

AW plays Findlay in State District Tourney First Round
The Generals will play the Findlay Trojans in the First Round of the OHSAA District Hockey Tournament. The game will be played Saturday February 21st at 8:00 PM on Rink II at Tam O'Shanter. Findlay is the tourney's 5th seed and AW is the 10th seed. The two teams played December 26th at The Cube in Findlay as part of the Trojan Holiday Invitational. The Generals won 3 to 2 in overtime and went on to become the tournament's champion.
The game will be televised on BCSN.

Jr. Generals Spring League Begins March 25th *************Register Now**************
Registration for the Jr. Generals Spring Teams is now available for any current 5th through 9th graders interested in playing.
It is anticpated that the programs cost will be $200.00. Included will be at least 1 two hour practice, at least 14 games, a Jr. Generals Jersey and a great Pizza Party to wrap up the season.

Springfield Game Now Rescheduled to February 20th @ 8:30 PM
The NHC Blue Division game postponed Jan. 10th because of inclement weather was rescheduled again to Friday February 20 that 8:30 PM to avoid a conflict with the State District Tournament Game scheduled for the next day.

Web Site has 226,087 Hits in January - You can target your Advertising

With over 34,000 hits during the last three days of January awhockey.com reached a new monthly record total of 226,087 hits during January. This surpasses the record of 164,041 in December. There have been 872 unique visitors and almost 2,800 individual visits to the site during January.
During the last six months of 2008 there were over 400,000 on this web site. January's hits were nearly 1/2 of the prior six months' activity.

The Web Site has had 38,521 hits through the first 6 days of February. There have already been 274 unique visitors accessing the site. It is estimated that with a pickup in the number of games next weekend and the State District Tournament that the activity in this short month will be in the range of 180,000 to 200,000 hits.

The NHC has established Benefit Accounts for Kyle Cannon and Dustin Wells. Joe Reynolds, former president of SMAHL and Northview hockey parent, has agreed to be the custodian of the accounts at Waterford Bank NA. Joe will oversee the funds and distribute to the families.
